Why did you start the blog?
I was a mom with a few little ones and I enjoyed participating in online conversations about parenting. Over the years, I cultivated a national network of moms and families with whom I still remain very close. At various times, Beyond The Crib has been a blog, a product review site, and a local parenting forum, but somehow these never felt complete to me.

I started blogging in 2011 when my youngest son started wearing a helmet to correct his Plagiocephaly. Each day, I would dress him up and take whimsical pictures of him in scenes where he would be expected to be wearing a helmet — football player, astronaut, skateboarder, etc. After my son graduated from his helmet, I had been blogging every day for three months.

Writing has always been my passion ( I have a degree in Journalism), so I decided to continue blogging. I also started to branch out as a freelancer. Today, I not only keep up my personal blog, Beyond The Crib, but I have been featured on TODAY Parents, Scary Mommy, BlogHer, Mamapedia, and The New York Times parenting blog.

Who is the blog for?
Writing is the greatest form of therapy. I love witnessing my words come to life on the screen. I write to preserve memories, tell a story, or vent. I write for all the moms, dads, and caregivers who read my blog. We are all in this together.

You live in Wappingers — tell me about your family and being a mom in Wappingers?
My husband and I are the proud parents of eight children ranging in age from 20 to 4. I work from my home as a Social Media Editor and freelance writer for various publications. In our spare time we like to take advantage of all that the Hudson Valley has to offer.
