I had the chance to ask Cindy Latino, a board member of the Wappinger Falls Business Professional Association, about the event:
What do you want people to know about the association and why this event was created?
The Association is a large group of businesses and business people who work together to better the economic climate of their area. Although we originated in the Village of Wappingers Falls, we expand to the Town of Wappinger, Town and City of Poughkeepsie and beyond. This event was created to draw people to our area. We are all about “getting the word out” and community events are just the ticket. When we have fund raising events, our money raised always goes back into the businesses and community.
Why is this important to the business community?
It helps to showcase what we have. Many of our local businesses are just starting out or still in the honeymoon phase; the more people we get here to see what we have to offer, the more people that will come back. We are starting to see more and more people come to our area to enjoy what we have to offer and we want to keep it that way.
Why is this important to the residents of Wappingers?
The stronger business community you have, the stronger economic base overall for businesses and residents alike. No one wants to own property or live in a run down neighborhood. The more money we can bring in via our businesses, the more we can grow as a community together. By scattering activities from Mesier Park to Givans Ave., we hope to encourage consumers to take a lazy stroll through our Central Business area and have a taste of the variety of foods that call the Village their home.
